This day in history….first Postmaster General

Ben Franklin Ltr On this day in 1775, Benjamin Franklin became the first Postmaster General., making the office (in one form or another) older than both the U. S. Constitution and the U. S. Declaration of Independence. The 74th Postmaster General, Megan J. Brennan, is now serving as head of the world’s largest postal organization, the first woman to do so.
